East Hartford Man Dead After Shooting In Hartford: Police

Hartford police said Tuesday morning they are investigating the fatal shooting of an East Hartford man found in the street.

HARTFORD, CT — Hartford police are investigating a homicide after a man was found shot in the roadway on Cabot Street late Monday night, authorities said Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the area of 86 Cabot St. after hearing gunshots nearby, according to the Hartford Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the roadway.

EMS crews transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police identified the victim as Dante Barnes, 37, of East Hartford.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions responded to the scene and are leading the investigation.

Police said the case remains active and ongoing.
