Major CT History Museum Offers Good Deal When It Gets Hot Outside
The Hartford-based history hotspot said admission is free when the temperature is above 95 degrees through Labor Day.

HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut's biggest history museum this week announced a rather unusual museum promotion that will have history buffs praying for heat waves.
The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, located at 1 Elizabeth St., Hartford, is offering free admission on any day temperatures reach 95 degrees or higher through Labor Day, providing residents and visitors with a place to escape extreme summer heat.
Museum officials announced the seasonal promotion this week, encouraging visitors to take advantage of the offer during periods of high temperatures.

When the temps are under 95 degrees, the following one-day admission prices are in effect: $12 adults; $10 seniors (65 and over); and $8 students (with valid college ID) and youths (6-17).
Located in Hartford's West End, the museum features exhibitions, a library, a research center and collections that document the state's history and culture.

The museum said free admission will be available whenever the temperature reaches at least 95 degrees.
Visitors can check the museum's website for hours and planning information before arriving.
Outside of the heat-relief program, regular admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors age 65 and older, and $8 for students with a valid college ID and youth ages 6 to 17. Children 5 and younger receive free admission.
The museum also offers free admission year-round to members and participates in the Museums for All program, which provides free admission to individuals and families presenting a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Electronic Benefits Transfer card.
In addition, admission to the museum's galleries and Inspire Center is free for visitors of all ages on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month.
Founded in 1825, the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History serves as Connecticut's statewide historical society and cultural institution.
Its collections include more than 4 million manuscripts, graphics, objects, and artifacts documenting the state's past and present.
