• Black-Eyed & Bluesfest goes on with new date and location but the same vibe as years past (courant.com) — Hartford's long-running free Black-Eyed & Bluesfest is back on Sept. 12 from 3–9 p.m., now at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza on Columbus Boulevard. Expect big-name and local blues acts, food, drinks, and family-friendly amenities, with clear rules on parking, what to bring, and on-site alcohol and pet policies so you can plan your evening by the river.
   

• For National Food Bank Day, consider donating to a Greater Hartford food pantry (courant.com) — Hunger remains a serious issue in Hartford and Tolland counties, where about one in nine residents struggle to get enough food. For National Food Bank Day and beyond, you can help by donating nonperishables to nearby sites like Hands On Hartford, the West Hartford Food Pantry at Town Hall, MACC Charities in Manchester, and other listed pantries with clear drop-off hours.
   

• Beenie Man Receives Official Proclamation from City of Hartford, Connecticut (dancehallmag.com) — Hartford's city government has formally honored dancehall star Beenie Man with an official proclamation recognizing his impact on music and Jamaican culture, reflecting the city's deep Caribbean roots. Local Jamaican leader and former deputy mayor Veronica Airey-Wilson helped present the recognition, underscoring how Hartford's Jamaican and West Indian communities see this as meaningful validation from City Hall.
