1. 13 Hartford Neighborhood Projects Receive Significant Funding (patch.com) — Hartford residents are set to see nearly $180,000 invested in 13 neighborhood projects, from murals and gardens to park upgrades and pollinator pathways. The Love Your Block program, backed by the City of Hartford and Greater Hartford Gives, empowers local groups to tackle blight, beautify streets, and create new community spaces across multiple neighborhoods.

2. CT students could go to college for free. What one institution is offering (courant.com) — Hartford residents and high school graduates could soon attend Trinity College tuition-free with room and board covered through the new Hometown Hartford program. Starting with the 2027–28 year, Trinity is dropping application fees and rolling out several initiatives that significantly cut costs for Hartford students and others across the region, potentially transforming local college access.

Hartford fire displaces 2 families, no injuries reported (wfsb.com) — A Thursday afternoon fire at a two-family home on Ashton Street in Hartford displaced seven residents but caused no injuries, according to fire officials. Crews quickly contained the blaze, and the Hartford Fire Department's Special Services Unit is working with the American Red Cross to help the two affected families while investigators determine the cause.

4. Safety changes planned for Main Street, Albany Avenue intersection in Hartford (nbcconnecticut.com) — Drivers and pedestrians in Hartford should expect major safety upgrades at Main Street and Albany Avenue, where at least 15 crashes have occurred since 2015. State transportation officials plan to replace the traffic signal, realign lanes, and shorten crosswalks near Dunkin Park, with construction expected to start in 2028 after community feedback is incorporated.

Flags raised ahead of Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade (wtnh.com) — Hartford residents can celebrate Puerto Rican pride this Sunday as the Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade steps off at 11 a.m., followed by a festival in Bushnell Park running until 9 p.m. Flags were raised at the state capitol and city hall Thursday, with community leaders highlighting the heritage, music, food, and culture that will fill downtown all weekend.
