1. Hartford-Area Hospital Unveils Free Prescription Med Program (patch.com) — Hartford's Saint Francis Hospital is launching a new program that offers free prescription medications to eligible uninsured and low-income patients with chronic illnesses. Through its Saint FrancisRx pharmacy and Meds to Beds service, the hospital aims to remove cost barriers, reduce preventable complications, and better connect Hartford-area patients with needed medications and social support resources.
   

2. Hartford to rename street in honor of police officer killed in on-duty car crash (courant.com) — Hartford will ceremonially rename High Street as "Bobby's Way" during a Sunday 10 a.m. event at police headquarters, honoring Det. Robert "Bobby" Garten, killed in a 2023 on-duty crash. City leaders and the police union say the new street name will permanently recognize his sacrifice and keep his memory visible to residents and officers alike.
   

3. Siting Council to review plan for 7.5-MW fuel cell in Hartford (hartfordbusiness.com) — A 7.5-megawatt fuel cell facility is proposed for 235 Brainard Road in Hartford, near the MDC wastewater plant and Hartford-Brainard Airport, with state siting officials reviewing its construction plan this month. If approved, the natural-gas-powered plant would sell electricity to Eversource and United Illuminating under a long-term agreement, with construction expected to start this year and last about 12 months.
   

4. Connecticut DOT Completes Bus Shelter Installations (transportation.org) — Hartford riders now have 21 new bus shelters installed across the city, with 47 more stops in design as part of a statewide Bus Stop Enhancement Program. The project, also the first under the Greater Hartford Mobility Program, aims to improve comfort, accessibility, and safety for local bus users while setting the stage for dozens more shelters in Hartford and nearby communities.
   

5. Greater Hartford's West Indian Diaspora (10th Anniversary Encore Release) (ctexplored.org) — Hartford-area residents can explore a new exhibit, "Drawn Here: Stories from Hartford's North End," at the Connecticut Museum of Culture & History now through Jan. 17, 2027. Paired with a remastered podcast episode on Greater Hartford's West Indian community, it uses graphic novels and artifacts to illuminate decades of migration and neighborhood history shaped by many cultures.
