Water Emergency Involving 'Possible Drowning' Reported In Hartford

Crews responded to a water emergency on the Connecticut River on Sunday morning.

HARTFORD, CT — A person was rescued by a civilian boat after a water emergency was reported in Hartford on Sunday morning, according to fire officials.

Firefighters and a marine unit responded to the reported water emergency involving a "possible drowning" at Charter Oak Landing at 11:20 a.m.

Bystanders reported that a civilian boat found the person in the water.

The boat brought the adult to shore. EMS evaluated the patient, who was taken to a local hospital.

"We want to extend our sincere appreciation to the civilian boater who ultimately brought the individual out of the water," fire officials wrote on Facebook. "Your quick actions made a critical difference."

The East Hartford and Wethersfield fire departments also deployed boats and assisted in the emergency response.
