Madison Board Of Finance To Consider Public Works Equipment Lease, Youth Employment Grant

MADISON, CT — The Madison Board of Finance is scheduled to consider several funding and capital equipment requests during a special remote meeting Monday, July 27, including changes to the town's capital improvement schedule and a lease amendment for a new wheel loader for the Public Works Department.

Among the largest financial items, the board is scheduled to consider amending the town's five-year capital lease agreement with First American to add the purchase of a 2026 John Deere 544P Tier wheel loader and related equipment. The proposal would also authorize First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons to sign documents associated with the lease. The request was previously approved by the Board of Selectmen on July 20.

The finance board also is expected to review a request from the Public Works Department to move the replacement of a 2003 Volvo wheel loader from the Fiscal Year 2029-30 Capital Improvement Program Highway Equipment Replacement Reserve into the Fiscal Year 2026-27 capital plan. The proposal likewise received Board of Selectmen approval on July 20.

In addition, the board is scheduled to discuss and possibly accept a recurring annual grant of up to $12,808 from Work Force Alliance to support the Madison Youth and Family Services Summer Youth Employment Program. The grant request also was approved by the Board of Selectmen on July 20.
