MADISON, CT — Proposed pedestrian improvements along Boston Post Road, Britton Lane and West Wharf Road are scheduled for informal discussion when the Madison Historic District Commission meets Monday.

Madison is seeking design feedback on retaining wall materials associated with pedestrian improvements that include sidewalks and crosswalks on Boston Post Road, also known as U.S. Route 1, Britton Lane and West Wharf Road.

The proposal, listed as a Major Downtown Village District alteration, involves areas in the town's R-1 and R-2 zones. The agenda lists the matter as an informal discussion; the commission may not to vote or take action on the proposal.

Commission members are also expected to informally discuss proposed changes at 908 Boston Post Road, where property owners and applicants Nicholas J. and Nancy J. Robert are seeking design feedback regarding porch railings and stonework.

The application calls for modifications to porch railings, a patio and a walkway for a unit in a small cluster housing development. The agenda identifies the proposal as a Coastal Site Plan Application, Site Plan Modification and Major Downtown Village District Application.

The regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, in Meeting Room C-Hammonasset Room at Town Campus, 8 Campus Drive.
