Madison Inland Wetlands Agency To Review Hammonasset River Dredging, New Home Applications

MADISON, CT — Madison’s Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency is scheduled to review a proposed maintenance dredging project on the Hammonasset River, along with several residential development and wetlands permit applications, during its regular virtual meeting Monday, Aug. 3.

Among the new applications the agency is expected to receive is a proposal from the Hammonassett Fishing Association for maintenance dredging of a fishing pond on Bunnell Bridge Road connected to the Hammonasset River. The application seeks permission to remove accumulated silt and restore the pond to its historical depths.

The agency also is scheduled to receive an application from 56 Railroad LLC to construct a new single-family home and related site improvements within the 100-foot upland review area of an inland wetland at 54 Railroad Ave.

Other new applications include a proposal to remove two oak trees within the inland wetland upland review area at 15C Old Toll Road and a request to build a driveway, culvert and utility services on Long Shore Lane to serve a planned single-family residence within the wetland review area.

The agenda also includes a request from Kelking LLC for a permitted-use determination to remove phragmites from a pond at 353 Boston Post Road.

As pending business, the agency is scheduled to consider a re-subdivision referral for Lot 4 at 19 Advent Hill Road within the 100-foot upland review area of an inland wetland, as well as a regulated activity permit application to install a pre-built shed within the wetland review area at 52 Sunny Hill Drive.

In addition, members are expected to receive correspondence regarding pond treatment at Camp Laurelwood, 463 Summer Hill Road, approve minutes from the July 6 meeting, and hear remarks from the Inland Wetlands chairman and wetlands agent.
