Madison Selectmen To Consider Wastewater Plan, $84K Ambulance Vehicle Purchase

MADISON, CT — The Madison Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider accepting the town’s proposed Wastewater Facilities Plan on Tuesday, following an update from the Water Pollution Control Authority.

The wastewater plan is among several items on the agenda involving town infrastructure, spending and policy. The board is also expected to discuss flood mitigation at Green Hill Place, review additional due diligence on the Academy School property and consider changes to procedures involving delinquent taxpayers seeking building permits or certificates of occupancy.

The agenda calls for an update from the Water Pollution Control Authority on the proposed Town of Madison Wastewater Facilities Plan, followed by a separate item to discuss and take action on accepting the plan.

Additionally, the board is also scheduled to receive an update on the flood mitigation project at Green Hill Place and discuss potential next steps.

Another agenda item calls for an update on additional due diligence conducted for the Academy School property.

The board may also take action on a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local Union 443, effective July 1, 2025.

Under the consent agenda, selectmen are scheduled to consider approving the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe through the town’s 2026-27 Capital Improvement Program for an amount not to exceed $84,711. The vehicle would be funded through the Ambulance Replacement Reserve, with pricing under a state contract.

The consent agenda also includes acceptance of two donations, both pending Board of Finance approval. The Madison Newcomers Club has offered $10,500 to Madison Youth and Family Services for its Back-to-School Program. The Women's Club of Madison has donated $2,199.95 to the Madison Beach and Recreation Department for a water bottle filling station and replacement filters at Strong Field/Anderson Field House.

Selectmen are also scheduled to discuss and take action on modifying town procedures related to “Delinquent Taxpayers and Issuance of Building Permits/Certificates of Occupancy.”

Other consent agenda business includes tax abatements and refunds, committee resignations and appointments, approval of July 20 meeting minutes, and adjustments to Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee terms.
