Madison Finance Board Approves Flood Study, Opioid Settlement Spending (patch.com) — Madison residents will see nearly $50,000 invested in a flooding study for Green Hill Road Extension and more than $22,000 in opioid settlement funds supporting an outreach social worker and Health Department hours. Local groups also donated to youth services and recreation, while officials advanced projects from seawall repairs and Surf Club upgrades to the new Emergency Operations Center opening this week.
   

2. Police Release ID Of Victim In Fatal Madison Crash (patch.com) — Madison residents are being updated after police identified 31-year-old Pedro Ayala of Waterbury as the victim in Sunday's fatal single-car crash on Route 80 near Squires Road. A section of Old Toll Road was temporarily closed while Madison police and the South-Central Connecticut Accident Reconstruction Team investigated, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Madison Police Department.

Kids design moving builds, add sensors and sounds, and tackle real-world problem solving, giving local families a glimpse into how the district is modernizing classroom learning.
   

4. 16-year-old Madison boy saves father from heart attack (wtnh.com) — A 16-year-old Madison resident is being hailed as a hero after performing CPR that helped save his father's life during a sudden heart attack at their home. The family says his Navy Sea Cadet training made the difference, and they're now focused on John's recovery at Yale New Haven Hospital before he can return to their Madison home.
