BROOKLYN, CT — A resident of the small northeastern Connecticut village of Pomfret Center is $1 million richer after winning the top prize in the Connecticut Lottery's $1,000,000 Gold scratch game.
The winning ticket, worth $1 million, was purchased at Brooklyn Xtra Mart. The retailer is a convenience store and gas station.
The Connecticut Lottery announced the winning claim on July 13. That represents the final day to redeem a ticket in the retired game.

Pomfret Center, a village within the town of Pomfret and Brooklyn, with populations of only a few thousand residents, rarely see lottery wins of this magnitude, making the prize one of the largest recent lottery jackpots claimed by a resident of the Quiet Corner community.
