Firefighter Injured In Blaze That Displaced Family In Meriden

MERIDEN, CT — A family was displaced from their home after a two-alarm fire Sunday on Hobart Street in Meriden, according to officials.

The Record-Journal reports a firefighter was injured while battling the blaze, suffering burns to their wrists, and was taken to a burn unit in Bridgeport.

The American Red Cross is helping a family of two adults after the fire, according to a news release.

The Red Cross provided assistance to meet the family's immediate needs. Red Cross responders included Noelle Bisson, Kevin Bunnell, and Sheri MacKenzie.

“The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more,” officials wrote in the news release. “The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire.”
