Man Charged In Armed Robbery Of Store In Meriden: Police
Police said a gun was involved with the robbery.
MERIDEN, CT — A man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a store in Meriden last summer, according to police.
Police responded around 1:10 a.m. on Aug. 15 to Sam’s Food Stores at 343 West Main St. on the report of an armed robbery involving a gun, according to Sgt. Michael Boothroyd.
Boothroyd said Chico Arnaldo Cardona, 23, was identified as a suspect following an investigation.

Police made multiple attempts to locate and apprehend him, but Boothroyd said Cardona wasn’t found until Jan. 30 when he was taken into custody.
Cardona was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny, and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

“The Meriden Police Department wants our community to know if a dangerous individual comes into our community and commits violent crimes against our residents and business owners, we will use every resource available to identify, arrest, and hold that person fully accountable,” Boothroyd wrote in a news release. “We will continue to work with our local, state, and federal partners to ensure offenders are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We will not tolerate those who threaten the safety of our community.”
