• Death Investigated As Homicide After Human Remains Found Following Fire In Meriden: PD (patch.com) — Meriden officials are investigating the death of 35-year-old Travis Douglas as a homicide after firefighters discovered his burned remains while putting out a brush fire on Hicks Avenue. Detectives later determined Douglas had been shot multiple times, and police are urging anyone with information to contact the lead investigator as the case continues.
   

• Meriden Schools Awarded State Grant Aimed At Boosting Student Attendance (patch.com) — Meriden Public Schools are getting a $274,000 state grant to fund home visits aimed at improving student attendance and engagement across the district. The money comes through Connecticut's LEAP program, which has helped cut chronic absenteeism statewide, and will support trained staff who work directly with Meriden families to identify barriers and connect them with needed resources.
