New 2.5-Mile Linear Trail Officially Opens In Meriden (patch.com) — Meriden residents now have a nearly 2.5-mile Research Parkway Linear Trail, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting that drew federal, state, and city leaders. The city paired a major federal grant with local funds to build a wide, paved path separated from sidewalks, add environmentally friendly drainage near Bishop's Pond, and create a new parking area with spaces set aside for food trucks at the Wallingford line.

Man Charged In 2 Shootings In Meriden: Police (patch.com) — Meriden police say a Middletown man has been linked to two separate shootings on Crown Street and Camp Street earlier this year, where dozens of shell casings were found. After he was arrested in Waterbury on an unrelated matter, testing allegedly tied his firearm to both Meriden scenes, leading to multiple serious charges and $1 million total bond.
   

3. 'Completely Remodeled' Home Hits The Market In Meriden (patch.com) — Meriden homebuyers can now check out a fully remodeled four-bedroom house on Smithfield Avenue, offering more than 2,400 square feet of living space on a private 1.48-acre lot. This year, every Connecticut public school student gets free breakfast, and state leaders are weighing new limits on cellphones and classroom screen time that could affect Meriden classrooms.
