• Teen, 15, Missing From Meriden: Police (patch.com) — Meriden police are asking residents to help locate 15-year-old Jake Rivera, who was reported missing from the city on September 18 and is believed to have run away. He is described as 5-foot-7, 160 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen in black clothing. Anyone with information is urged to call the Meriden Police Department at the listed numbers.
   

• Meriden sex offender used Internet access to try to coerce 11-year-old, police say (myrecordjournal.com) — Meriden police have charged a 48-year-old registered sex offender from Meriden with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old at a local residence, after the child reported the incident to relatives. According to the arrest warrant, the man allegedly used control of the home's internet and an electric lint remover to facilitate the assault. He is being held on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on October 14.
