Middletown Police Dog Safely Tracks Down Woman In Crisis

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown police dog was able to track down a woman in crisis early Wednesday and get her help, authorities said.

Police said that, early Wednesday morning, officers responded to Ridge Road after receiving a report about a woman knocking on doors while possibly experiencing a mental health crisis.

After searching the surrounding area, officers requested the assistance of Officer Nicholas Capozzo and his canine partner, Kylo.

Despite nearly an hour having passed since the incident, Kylo successfully picked up the woman's scent and tracked her for more than a quarter mile in near-freezing temperatures and ultimately located her in the area of East Main Street, police said.

"Thanks to the determination of Officer Capozzo, Kylo, and the coordinated efforts of responding officers, the woman was safely located and connected with the assistance she needed," police said.
