MIDDLETOWN, CT — A three-way stop will take effect at the intersection of Silver Street and Eastern Drive on July 31 as the city "seeks to improve safety and traffic flow."

The change will add a stop sign for eastbound traffic on Silver Street, requiring drivers to come to a complete stop before entering the intersection, according to a city announcement released Wednesday.

Traffic traveling northbound and southbound on Eastern Drive already stops at the intersection and will continue to do so. The intersection will not become a four-way stop because the downhill grade on Silver Street is too steep to support one, the city said.
