Anthony Salzillo, of Milford, CT, passed away at the VA Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut on May 2, 2026

Born and raised in Italian East Harlem, Tony carried his roots with him throughout his life

Anthony Salzillo, 94, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of the late Teresa Salzillo, passed away at the VA Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut on May 2, 2026. Born on August 31, 1931 in East Harlem, New York, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Madeline (Mezzacapo) Salzillo.

Born and raised in Italian East Harlem, Tony carried his roots with him throughout his life. As a young man, he served his country by joining the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. During a leave from service, he traveled to Italy, where fate led him to meet the love of his life, Teresa. The two were married in Italy in 1954 and shared nearly 70 wonderful years together, building a life grounded in partnership.

After his honorable discharge at the end of 1954, Teresa joined Tony in New York to begin their life together. Tony was known for his strong work ethic and took pride in every job he held; he ultimately found his calling in construction. Over the course of 30 years, he worked his way up through determination, becoming a general foreman and earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Even in retirement, Tony’s drive never faded. When he and his family moved to Milford in 1988, he went on to spend another decade working as a superintendent at Foxwoods Condos in Milford, where he remained active and engaged in his community. Only after his final retirement did Tony slow down, choosing to focus on what mattered most - his family.

Tony cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially loved traveling together, creating lasting memories on family trips, with the beach holding a special place in his heart.
