Beach Closed In Milford Due To Bacteria Levels, State Says

The open/closed status of beaches is determined by the most recent water quality tests during the peak season.

MILFORD, CT — Silver Sands State Park in Milford is closed Wednesday, according to the state.

The closure comes following bacteria test results, which are conducted weekly from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The tests are conducted by Department of Energy and Environmental Protection staff and analyzed at a Department of Public Health lab to detect the presence of certain indicator bacteria.
