Milford Official 'Outraged' By Attacks On Homeless Community

The attacks include physical assaults, stone throwing, verbal abuse and fireworks thrown into encampments, the official said.

MILFORD, CT — Mayor Rich Smith released a statement Friday afternoon regarding a "series of attacks" on Milford's homeless.

These attacks include physical assaults, stone throwing, verbal abuse and fireworks thrown into encampments, starting fires, Smith said.

The attacks are being investigated.

"The City of Milford is outraged and appalled by this cruelty," Smith said in a statement. "Targeting people because they are vulnerable is cowardly, and a betrayal of everything our community stands for. It has no place in Milford, and it will not be tolerated."

Smith said he will work with police to ensure that those responsible are identified, prosecuted and held fully accountable.
