• Monroe Police Join Regional Effort To Crack Down On Speeding, Reckless Driving (patch.com) — Monroe residents will see stepped-up traffic enforcement as local police join six neighboring departments in a regional effort to curb speeding, reckless driving and DUI, instead of relying on speed cameras. Town officials say the compact lets Monroe deploy more officers where residents report safety concerns, while a separate grant application targets long-problematic Hiram Hill with new signs, tree clearing and a rumble strip.

• DCP issues cease-and-desist to Phire in the Hole, says hot sauces pose potential botulism risk (themonroesun.com) — A Monroe-based hot sauce maker, Phire in the Hole, has been ordered by state consumer protection officials to stop production after regulators said its sauces may pose a botulism risk. Products sold at Beardsley's Cider Mill in Shelton from late 2025 through mid-August were embargoed, and residents who bought these sauces are urged to be alert for symptoms and seek medical care if needed.
