Driver Seriously Injured After Vehicle Strikes Stone Wall, Utility Pole In Naugatuck: Police
Police said the vehicle left the roadway, struck a stone retaining wall and continued into a utility pole.
NAUGATUCK, CT — A driver was seriously injured after their vehicle struck a stone wall and a utility pole Wednesday night in Naugatuck, according to police.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said a one-car crash was reported around 7 p.m. at the intersection of North Church Street (Route 63) and Buckingham Street.
According to police, a preliminary investigation indicated a vehicle traveling southbound on North Church Street left the roadway, struck a stone retaining wall and continued into a utility pole, where it came to rest.

The driver, a Naugatuck man, sustained serious injuries, according to police.
There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to police.

Naugatuck fire and emergency medical services crews extricated the driver from the vehicle before taking him to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
Due to the seriousness of the crash, the Naugatuck Valley Crash Investigation Team was activated to conduct a reconstruction of the collision, according to police.
