Yankees Birthday of the Day: Spec Shea (pinstripealley.com) — A Naugatuck-born pitcher, Francis "Spec" Shea, rose from starring at Naugatuck High School to winning World Series games for the New York Yankees in the late 1940s. After his playing days, he returned home to serve as Naugatuck's parks and recreation director and even helped coach Robert Redford's pitching form for the film "The Natural."
