A private household of two in Westport, Connecticut is seeking an experienced, dependable full-time Houseman & Cook for a long-term position.
This is a non-live-in position. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a high-end private residence and be comfortable handling a broad range of household responsibilities. We are looking for someone professional, discreet, trustworthy, and organized.
A competitive salary with health insurance benefits (upon completion of initial trial period) will be offered based on experience and qualifications.
Applicants must speak English well, be legally authorized to work in the United States, have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and have reliable transportation to and from work.
Experience and Skills Required for the Following Duties
- General care, maintenance, and security of the residence
- Household cleaning, including vacuuming, washing floors, and general upkeep
- Ensuring proper operation of household mechanical systems and identifying maintenance needs
- Overseeing vendors, contractors, and service appointments
- Maintaining household vehicles and arranging service when necessary
- Light gardening, lawn/property care, and seasonal outdoor work
- Light snow removal as needed
- Keeping the pool, patio, driveway, walkways, garage, and outdoor areas clean and orderly
- Grocery shopping and purchasing household supplies
- Running household errands
- Driving household members to appointments, errands, and other destinations as needed
- Experience and confidence driving in New York City is preferred
- Preparing good-quality everyday meals
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen
- Formal table service knowledge is a plus
- Assisting with miscellaneous household projects and tasks as needed
Applicants should preferably have at least three years of experience working as a houseman, household manager, estate caretaker, or similar position in a private residence.
The ideal candidate should be a non-smoker, have a professional appearance and demeanor, respect the privacy and confidentiality of the household, and be comfortable working independently.
This is a five-day-per-week, full-time position( Tuesdays & Wednesdays off) and is intended for someone seeking stable, long-term employment with a private household.
A household vehicle will be provided for work-related driving; however, the employee must have their own reliable transportation for commuting to and from the residence.
