NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan's open houses this weekend span almost 150 years of building.

The oldest is an 1875 farmhouse called the Ogden House, whose refurbished barn its listing describes as a possible dream artist's studio. The newest are two in-town condos built in 2013 and 2024, each with four finished levels or a private elevator.

Four New Canaan homes are holding open houses Saturday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 11, with prices from $1,049,000 to $4,595,000, according to Zillow.com.

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • 40 Ogden Road, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (also Sunday, noon to 2 p.m.), $1,049,000. New to the market Oct. 8, the 1875 Ogden House sits on 1.69 acres about four miles from downtown. It has fresh paint inside and out, refinished hardwood floors, a new roof, and a new water filtration system and well pump. A massive refurbished barn could hold cars, a workshop, an office or what the listing calls "a dream artist's studio," and the grounds also have a vintage shed and an original outhouse. The property is protected under a preservation easement, the listing says. It's a three-bedroom, one-bath home with 1,450 square feet.
  • 6 Down River Road #2, 2 to 4 p.m. (also Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.), $2,149,000. Built in 2024, this townhouse-style condo has four finished levels, minutes from the village and the train. The main level pairs a kitchen with custom cabinetry and a large island with living areas around a gas fireplace and bar. The finished third floor holds a fourth bedroom, and the lower level has a glass-enclosed gym or office. It also has a private terrace and lawn and an attached two-car garage. It's a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath condo with 3,836 square feet. Its price was cut by $200,000 on Oct. 6.

  • 125 West Road, 1 to 3 p.m., $4,595,000. One mile from the center of town, this 1903 Colonial sits on more than two fenced acres with a pool and a fire pit. Inside are a living room with a double-sided gas fireplace, a dining room with a butler's pantry and a custom kitchen opening to a family room. The primary suite has a fireplace, a balcony and three walk-in closets. The lower level's cabana room has a wet bar and a full bath and opens directly to the pool. It's a six-bedroom, 6.5-bath home with 6,246 square feet and a three-car garage.
  • 31 Richmond Hill Road #31, 1:30 to 3 p.m., $2,595,000. This standalone rear unit, built in 2013, has a private elevator serving every level, a chef's kitchen with custom cabinetry and a whole-house generator. A carpeted finished attic can work as an office, gym or creative space, and the 1,200-square-foot basement is unfinished. The listing stresses walkable access to shops, dining and transit. It's a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath condo with 4,650 square feet. Its price was cut by $404,000 on Sept. 28.

Make a weekend of it: you can see all four on Sunday. Start at the Ogden House at noon, then head to West Road at 1 p.m., Richmond Hill Road by 1:30, and Down River Road, open until 4.
