The rankings draw on extensive data and millions of reviews, giving local parents more tools to compare options and understand how New Canaan schools stack up statewide and nationally.

New Canaan (CT) football has yet to allow a point through 3 games (on3.com) — New Canaan High School's football team has opened the 2026 season with three straight shutouts, outscoring opponents 123–0 and earning a No. 3 state ranking. With a dominant defense and steady play from quarterback Maddox Hoffman, the Rams are eyeing another CIAC title as they head into a road game at New Britain this week.

An Inclusive Playground Makes Room for Every New Canaan Child (newcanaansentinel.com) — Families in New Canaan now have a fully inclusive playground open at Waveny Park, designed so children of all ages and abilities can play together on accessible equipment. Funded through town money, private donations and a state STEAP grant, the project showcases New Canaan's public‑private spirit and adds another welcoming gathering spot for everyday play and community connection.
   

4. Hope is Rocking! (newcanaansentinel.com) — New Canaan residents are rallying around mental health through the Hope Rocks initiative, which recently gathered volunteers at the library to paint "Posi‑Rocks" with encouraging messages placed around town, schools and preserves. Local groups like Mindwell Center, New Canaan Cares and New Canaan Moms are using the project to spark conversations about suicide prevention and remind neighbors they're not alone, with 988 highlighted for urgent help.

Gretchen Schafer Scott, 86 (newcanaanite.com) — A longtime New Canaan resident and devoted community volunteer, Gretchen Schafer Scott is remembered for raising her family here, serving at local schools, church, and the New Canaan Historical Society, and later retiring to Georgia. Her life of service, travel, and deep family connections left a strong legacy for those who knew her in town and beyond.
