2 Men Charged With Murder In Shooting Of Dirt Bike Rider In New Haven: Police

Two men are accused of following a dirt bike rider and shooting him to death, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Two men are being charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a dirt bike rider, according to New Haven police.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Ferry Street and Wolcott Street on a report of a person shot on Oct. 9, 2024.

Callers reported that a man on a dirt bike was shot by someone in a vehicle who appeared to be following the victim.

Officers arrived at the scene of the crime and found the victim, who was taken by ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The victim, Niygere Wicker, 20, of New Haven, died due to his injuries.

Following an investigation, New Haven police arrested two men: Joshua Yeaton, 20, of Wolcott and Jayden Cabasquini, 19, of West Haven.

Cabasquini was taken into custody July 28 and charged with murder and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Yeaton was taken into custody July 30 and charged with murder and criminal liability for the acts of another.

Both men have been assigned $1.5 million dollar bonds.
