Corrections Department Healthcare Worker Assaulted By Incarcerated Person At Whalley Ave. Jail: Officials (patch.com) — New Haven readers should know that a healthcare worker at the Whalley Avenue jail was assaulted by an incarcerated person Tuesday morning after a medical exam, sending the worker to a local hospital. Two responding correction officers were also injured while subduing the individual, and state police are now investigating as corrections leaders emphasize staff safety at the New Haven facility.

Video: New Haven Man, 49, Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Michael Spencer Downtown: NHPD (patch.com) — Downtown New Haven is reeling after police charged a 49-year-old city resident with murder in the fatal daytime stabbing of Michael Spencer near the New Haven Free Public Library earlier this month. Investigators say a fight that began inside the library spilled onto Temple and Elm streets, where Spencer was stabbed multiple times before dying at Yale-New Haven Hospital, leading to a high-bond arrest warrant.

The report cites bottlenecks and converging buses, commuters, and parents as key stressors, and notes that nearly four in ten parents nationwide feel overwhelmed by daily drop-offs.
