Street Takeover Crackdown By Local, State Cops Leads To Multiple Arrests, ATV, Dirtbike Seizures (patch.com) — New Haven officials detailed a coordinated crackdown on an unsanctioned "End of Summer Ride-Out" that drew hundreds of ATV and dirt bike riders through downtown, Long Wharf, and nearby towns. A regional task force led by New Haven police and Mayor Justin Elicker made 11 arrests, seized 18 vehicles, and highlighted ongoing efforts to curb dangerous street takeovers after a participant was seriously injured while filming stunts.
   

2. Celebrating 100th Year and Honoring Veterans, New Haven Based BILCO Donates To House of Heroes CT Project (patch.com) — New Haven-based BILCO is marking its 100th year by donating a basement door to support House of Heroes Connecticut's latest home repair project for an Air Force veteran in North Haven. The long-standing New Haven company has supplied multiple doors since 2022, reinforcing its role in improving safety and accessibility for veterans' homes across the region.

Hillhouse Assistant Principal On Leave, Under Investigation (newhavenindependent.org) — An assistant principal at New Haven's Hillhouse High School has been placed on administrative leave while city police and the state Department of Children and Families investigate an undisclosed allegation. District officials say an interim administrator will fill the role as the inquiry, which involves New Haven authorities and follows a previous leave at another city school, nears its conclusion.
   

4. New Haven police arrest suspect in fatal Derby Avenue shooting (nbcconnecticut.com) — New Haven police have arrested 25-year-old Bailey Gottert in connection with the August 20 fatal shooting of 42-year-old Ichon Ringwood at the Berger Apartments on Derby Avenue. Investigators say Ringwood, later pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital, may not have been the intended target, and Gottert is now held on a $2 million bond facing murder and related firearm charges.
   

5. Demolition of landmark Sports Haven horseracing complex finally leaves starting gate (nhregister.com) — Demolition has finally begun on New Haven's landmark Sports Haven building on Long Wharf Drive, clearing the way for future redevelopment while erasing a familiar piece of the I‑95 skyline. Crews are working over the coming weeks to bring down the structure, while preserving mural sections for the Lost in New Haven museum so residents can still connect with the site's history.
