UPDATE: 58-Year-Old New Haven Man Charged In Thursday Night Downtown Stabbing: NHPD
A 38-year-old man was stabbed in a downtown market at around 9:40 p.m., after an argument over a woman, "escalated," police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT— Police charged a New Haven man in connection with a stabbing at a downtown market Thursday night.
Officers were called at around 9:40 p.m. to The Market on the Green, 129 Church St, for the report of a stabbing, spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart said.
Cops found the victim, a 38-year-old man, in the back of the store suffering a stab wound. He was taken to Yale/New Haven Hospital, a few blocks away, where he was found to have non-life-threatening injuries, Bruckhart said.

Meanwhile, cops learned that "a dispute arose between the victim and suspect over a woman, which escalated when the victim was stabbed."
Soon after, cops found Miguel Mendoza-Melchor, 58, on Orange Street by Chapel Street, where he was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace, Bruckhart said.

One person was arrested in connection with a downtown stabbing, police said Friday morning.
At around 10 p.m. Thursday night, New Haven police posted to social media that officers were on the scene of the downtown stabbing.
The post to "X" noted that the knife attack happened at the 100 block of Church Street.
Police said that the victim suffered apparent non-life-threatening injuries.
