Music-Inspired Creative Writing Summer Camp Comes to New Milford
While this summer's final pages are being written, local creative writing nonprofit believes that every great story deserves another chapter

While this summer’s final pages are being written, local creative writing nonprofit Muse Squad believes that every great story deserves another chapter. With that in mind, The Anthologies: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young summer camp series is making its way to New Milford, giving young writers the opportunity to explore the world of creative writing and transform inspiration into original stories.
Themed around the legendary music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, this course will allow students to experience creative writing through a musical lens, drawing inspiration from the band's timeless lyrics and themes. A typical day in a Muse Squad summer camp involves instruction in new vocabulary and writing techniques, collaborative brainstorming on a chalkboard, and analysis and discussion of song lyrics. Each class ends with free writing time with an optional lesson-relevant prompt, followed by time for students to regroup and share the stories and passages that they have crafted.
This summer camp will take place at the John Pettibone Community Center located at 2 Pickett District Road in New Milford, CT 06776. The course will be offered in two sessions:

These courses will be taught by Muse Squad’s very own Kristy Dipietro. Whether you know her as Ms. Kristy or Ms. D, one thing remains the same: her passion for storytelling. Dipietro holds a Bachelor of Arts in Writing from Western Connecticut State University, as well as an Early Childhood Teaching License. Just as she wears many titles, Dipietro understands that identity is rarely one-dimensional. Throughout the course, she’ll encourage young authors to navigate and express the many facets of their identities through writing.
More than just a writing camp, the New Milford Anthologies summer camp series creates a bridge between the iconic lyricism of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and original storytelling of the next generation of writers. All are encouraged to register!
