Driver Fled Route 25 Tractor-Trailer Crash, Faces DUI, Drug Charges: Police (patch.com) — Newtown police say a Milford man crossed into oncoming traffic on South Main Street Thursday morning, crashing into a tractor-trailer and temporarily shutting down Route 25 near Simm Lane. Officers report he fled on foot toward Dogwood Terrace before being caught, then was hospitalized and charged with DUI, drug offenses, evading responsibility and multiple motor vehicle violations.

The case is one of several Connecticut settlements totaling $9.2 million, underscoring closer scrutiny of pandemic aid use by organizations across the state.
   

5. Danbury Moose Spotted Amid Photoshoot in Pawling (wearedanbury.com) — A wandering moose has been spotted in several area towns, including a stroll through Newtown that has residents swapping photos and stories. Wildlife experts say the animal is likely following long‑standing migration corridors disrupted by development, and they're urging people to keep a safe distance even as social media buzz grows.
