2. CT Supreme Court intervenes in murder conviction. It said jury has a right to know about agreements (courant.com) — Connecticut's Supreme Court has ordered further review of a murder conviction involving the 2012 killing of a Norwich man, focusing on whether jurors should have been told more about a key witness's possible deal with prosecutors. The ruling could change how New London County prosecutors handle and disclose cooperation agreements, potentially affecting future Norwich-area criminal cases and witness credibility in court.

Waterford man charged with manslaughter in Montville overdose death (theday.com) — A Waterford man has been charged with manslaughter, accused of selling fentanyl that led to a 23-year-old's fatal overdose in Montville earlier this year. He was taken into custody at Norwich Superior Court and is being held on a $250,000 bond as police from several southeastern Connecticut departments continue coordinating on the case.

4. FRANKLIN: Ivan L. 'Sonny' Kelly (town.news) — A longtime truck driver and skilled woodworker, Ivan "Sonny" Kelly died on August 14 at age 67 at Backus Hospital in Norwich, leaving family across Oakdale and Franklin. Loved for his craftsmanship, country music, and devotion to his wife and extended family, he requested no public services, and relatives will honor him privately while inviting memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
