• Norwich Wetlands Commission To Continue Review Of Proposed Occum Distribution Facility (patch.com) — Norwich residents will soon see continued debate over a massive 1.07 million-square-foot fulfillment and distribution center proposed for the Occum Industrial Center, including significant wetland impacts and off-site mitigation plans on Canterbury Turnpike. The Inland Wetlands, Watercourses & Conservation Commission will resume public hearings Oct. 1 and may act on three applications, while also reviewing a Norwich Public Utilities PFAS-related matter on West Town Street.
   

• Norwich Lottery Player Strikes It Lucky With Cashword Ticket Bought in Plainfield (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Norwich resident just scored a $10,000 prize from a $500,000 CA$HWORD 2nd Edition scratch-off, with the winning ticket sold at City Spirits in Plainfield. While lottery officials released few details about the winner, the payout adds to a growing list of sizable wins tied to Norwich-area players.
   

• CT man charged with arson after allegedly starting fire at halfway house in Montville (courant.com) — A man is accused of setting a fire at Cochegan House, a work-release halfway house in Montville, forcing 23 residents to evacuate before sprinklers contained the blaze. The suspect was arrested nearby and is being held on a $250,000 bond, with his case scheduled in Norwich Superior Court, though officials say there's no ongoing threat to surrounding communities.
