• Oxford Resident Claims Powerball Prize (patch.com) — An Oxford resident has quietly scored a $50,000 Powerball prize, with the winning ticket sold at Linda's Liquors on Roosevelt Drive in nearby Seymour. Under current Connecticut Lottery rules, the winner's name remains private unless they choose to release it, but locals may want to double‑check their recent tickets.
   

• Oxford Approves 9-Month Development Moratorium (patch.com) — Oxford residents face a nine-month pause on major new housing and commercial projects as the Planning and Zoning Commission studies traffic, sewers, roads, and zoning needs along Route 67 and beyond. The moratorium doesn't stop the already-filed 150-unit Little River Apartments proposal on Oxford Road, which will move to public hearings in mid-September under Connecticut's affordable housing law.
