• Ridgefield P&Z Approves Railroad Safety Work, Boehringer Storage Structure (patch.com) — Ridgefield's Planning and Zoning Commission has approved safety-related floodplain work at the Branchville railroad crossing and a new salt and sand storage structure at Boehringer Ingelheim, while continuing debate on a proposed Ethan Allen Highway golf driving range. Commissioners also discussed buying 221 Danbury Road for a future police, fire and EMS facility, reviewed a potential Mavis Tire on Danbury Road, and backed an open-space park donation on Mamanasco Road.
   

• CT woman accused of poisoning ex-partner by putting antifreeze in his wine offered plea deal (courant.com) — A Danbury judge has offered a plea deal that could send Kristen Hogan to prison for 12 to 15 years after she was charged with attempting to poison her former partner, a Ridgefield man, and allegedly falsifying DNA tests in a separate custody case. Prosecutors say the man was hospitalized with antifreeze poisoning and that Hogan later admitted trying to make him sick, while also facing perjury and evidence-tampering charges in the paternity dispute.
   

• Inside Week 3 of CIAC football: Breakthroughs, change-ups and defending champions fall (thehour.com) — Ridgefield football fans saw their Tigers fall just short at home, 23-20, in a tight matchup against Staples that highlighted Week 3's shakeups across Connecticut high school football. The statewide roundup notes several long-awaited upset wins, struggles for defending champions, and previews Ridgefield's upcoming home game against Danbury on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
