Rocky Hill Gas Prices Below State Average As Connecticut Prices Ease (patch.com) — Rocky Hill drivers are paying about $4.28 per gallon for regular gas this week, noticeably below the Connecticut, New England, and national averages. While statewide prices have dipped a few cents since last week, they remain more than a dollar higher than a year ago, so local residents still face elevated fuel costs despite Rocky Hill's relative bargain.
   

2. Rocky Hill firefighters respond to incident at surgical center, officials say (ctpost.com) — Rocky Hill firefighters rushed to Orthopedic Associates on Enterprise Drive Monday night after employees reported seeing smoke in a lab area, but the situation turned out to be a harmless equipment issue. Crews traced the problem to steam venting from a sterilizer's relief valve, secured the scene within 40 minutes, and reported no injuries to staff or firefighters.
   

3. 3rd annual AllWorkCT Forum (westfaironline.com) — Rocky Hill will host the 3rd annual AllWorkCT Forum on Oct. 20 at the Sheraton Hartford South Hotel, connecting local employers with resources to hire people with disabilities. The free, statewide event features a keynote from speaker Aaron Golub, networking with businesses, and guidance from state disability services on building inclusive, competitive workplaces. Registration is available online through Eventbrite and AllWorkCT.com.
   

4. Connecticut inmate who faced execution eight times dies at 101 as longest-serving US prisoner (wfsb.com) — A 101-year-old Connecticut inmate, long considered the nation's longest-serving prisoner, spent his final years at 60 West, the state nursing facility in Rocky Hill for justice-involved seniors. After decades behind bars and multiple postponed executions, he was transferred there on supervised parole in his 90s, where staff recall him as gentle and still questioning his conviction until his death this summer.
   

5. East Hartford woman charged with double-dipping from Medicaid caregiver programs (ctpost.com) — From a Rocky Hill-based investigation, state inspectors have charged an East Hartford woman with allegedly collecting overlapping Medicaid payments from two caregiver programs while serving the same client. Authorities say she received more than $18,000 in duplicate reimbursements and later moved money between accounts, and she's now free on bond while her case proceeds in Manchester Superior Court.
