1. Shelton high school football preview 2026 (ncadvertiser.com) — Shelton football fans can start circling dates for a challenging 2026 season at Edward C. Finn Stadium and on the road. With star running back Cole St. Pierre and quarterback Jackson Hyner returning, the Gaels aim to rebound from back-to-back 3–7 seasons against a brutal slate that includes Sheehan, Hand, Jonathan Law, Notre Dame-West Haven and Fairfield Prep.

2. 8 Shelton restaurants cited for serious violations during July health inspections (nhregister.com) — Health inspectors found serious food safety violations at eight Shelton restaurants during July, including issues with food temperatures, sanitation and equipment. All cited problems were required to be fixed quickly, and reports note many were corrected immediately, giving local diners important insight into how popular spots like Pancheros, Chinatown Shelton and others are handling food safety.

3. Thomas A. Beatrice (newhavenindependent.org) — Shelton is remembering Thomas A. Beatrice, a 98-year-old former longtime resident who was born in the city and later worked as a mechanical engineer at Farrel Corporation in Ansonia. A Navy veteran of World War II and Korea, he was known for his love of history, gardening, and community involvement before passing away in Gettysburg surrounded by family.

4. Derby food pantry expanding to meet growing Valley need (darientimes.com) — A major Derby food pantry that serves the Valley is expanding, and Shelton residents are among the volunteers keeping its shelves stocked. With demand for food assistance up more than 100 percent since 2021, St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shoppe & Food Bank is adding space, extending hours, and seeking donations so it can serve far more families from Shelton and nearby towns.
