Founded in 2016, Healing Meals has delivered more than 270,000 medically supportive meals to families in need, according to the organization.

The nonprofit relies on teams of youth and adult volunteers to prepare meals for people experiencing critical illnesses, as well as their families and caregivers.

In addition to providing food, the organization focuses on youth leadership, health education, and community involvement through its volunteer programs.

Grant Supports Community Outreach

The $2,000 award comes from the Archbishop's Annual Appeal, which has supported charitable programs throughout Hartford, New Haven and Litchfield counties since 1981.

The appeal funds programs addressing healthcare, education, housing, emergency assistance, and other community needs.

Its Vicariate Outreach Program, established in 1997, distributes grants to local nonprofits and charitable organizations based on recommendations from pastors and parish administrators.

Healing Meals said the latest funding will help the organization continue serving families as demand for its services increases.
