• New Gas Station, Convenience Store Development Proposed In Southbury (patch.com) — Residents in Southbury may soon see a major change at 616 Main Street South, where the proposed Northway Market would replace existing buildings with a new gas station, convenience store and additional shops. The plan aims to fix zoning setbacks, improve drainage, add green space, and reduce pavement, with a public hearing scheduled for September 15 before the Planning Commission.

• Several Connecticut towns make the switch to four-day municipal work weeks (newenglandnewspress.com) — Southbury has joined a growing list of Connecticut towns moving to four-day municipal workweeks, with Town Hall now open later on Wednesdays and closed on Fridays under a pilot that began in April 2025. The change compresses employee hours into Monday–Thursday while aiming to give residents better evening access to services, mirroring similar workforce and service goals in Vernon, Plainville, Canton, and other communities.
