American Eagle President and CEO Howard Brady said the program allows members and community residents to direct funding to local nonprofits.
“American Eagle’s Cash Back to the Community program allows our members to directly support organizations making a meaningful difference locally,” Brady said. “Bread for Life plays a vital role in addressing food insecurity in Southington, and we’re proud to help strengthen their ability to serve the community.”
Bread for Life was one of three nonprofit organizations selected during the most recent funding cycle.
Under the Cash Back to the Community program, American Eagle donates 1 percent of its credit and debit card interchange income each quarter to local nonprofits chosen by members and public vote.
Since the program launched in 2020, more than $631,000 has been distributed to community organizations, according to American Eagle.
Nominations for the next round of Cash Back to the Community funding were accepted through Feb. 8, and voting is scheduled for March 9-22, with grant recipients to be announced in early April.
