Camp Sloper To Honor 2026 Hall Of Famers In Southington, Tickets On Sale Now

SOUTHINGTON, CT — YMCA Camp Sloper in Southington will honor former staff members and volunteers later this month while raising money for college scholarships for current camp staff.

The 2026 YMCA Camp Sloper Hall of Fame Night is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smokin' With Chris in Southington, 59 W. Center St.

The Sloper Hall of Fame was established to recognize former camp staff members and volunteers who have contributed to the camp over the years.

Organizers said the YMCA Camp Sloper Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be announced next week.

General admission tickets cost $25 and include a meal. Proceeds from those tickets will go to the Sloper Staff College Scholarship Fund.

Organizers are also offering $100 "Orange Tickets," which include a meal and recognition of the donor's name. Of the $100 ticket price, an additional $75 will be donated to the college scholarship fund for camp staff.

The annual scholarship initiative helps support staff members pursuing higher education.

Officially known as the YMCA Camp Sloper Outdoor Center, Camp Sloper is a 143-acre outdoor center and summer day camp in Southington.

The camp dates to 1949, when Cornelia "Sloper" Neil donated her farm to the Southington YMCA to benefit local youth.

Today, the summer day camp serves hundreds of children ages 3 to 15 each day. Its property includes a roughly 20-acre pond used for swimming, boating, and fishing, along with hiking trails, a climbing tower, high ropes courses, a ninja warrior course, and a large slide.

The facility is also used throughout the year for community programs, school group visits, birthday parties, and other activities and rentals.
