SOUTHINGTON, CT — Many of us are looking forward to jumping in a lake this summer, given how bad this winter has been in the snow and cold department.

But many this Saturday, Feb. 28, will also be jumping in a lake amid the snow and cold ... and all for a good cause.

The Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA will host its annual “Sloper Plunge” on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at YMCA Camp Sloper, 1000 East St. A weather-related makeup date is scheduled for March 7.
