• Southington Historical Society Unveils Artifact Wish List (patch.com) — Southington's Historical Society is asking residents to help track down photos, documents, memories, and even a living example of Nicholas Grillo's locally developed Thornless Beauty rose. They're especially interested in materials on the Apple Valley Kennel Club, the historic West Street School, and any surviving roses tied to Grillo's long-running Milldale greenhouse legacy and the Barnes Museum connection.
   

• Hiker Rescued From 80-Foot Cliff In Southington: SFD (patch.com) — Southington firefighters recently carried out a high-angle rope rescue to safely bring down a stranded hiker from an 80-foot cliff at Ragged Mountain, with no injuries reported. Crews coordinated from Carey Street, used specialized technical training to rappel the hiker to safety, and then transported the person out by utility vehicle, while neighboring departments covered Southington stations during the operation.
