SOUTHINGTON, CT — A prominent sportswriter who has gotten to know legendary University of Connecticut basketball coach Dan Hurley pretty well will discuss his latest book this week in Southington.

The Southington Public Library will host a presentation by local author and sports journalist Dave Borges on Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. (For the record, UConn doesn't have a game that night in either men's or women's basketball.)

Borges will discuss his latest book, "Hurley’s Heroes: UConn’s Return to College Basketball’s Elite," which chronicles the rebuilding of the UConn Huskies men's basketball program under Hurley.

In the book, Borges describes what he calls the definitive “blueprint” of Hurley’s rebuilding effort, tracing the program’s turnaround from “rock bottom” in 2018 to back-to-back national championships in 2023 and 2024.

The book examines the culture, recruiting strategy, and competitive intensity that fueled the Huskies’ return to prominence in college basketball.
