SOUTHINGTON, CT — United Way of Southington will celebrate a century of community service next month with a Roaring Twenties-themed gala recognizing the organization's history and the people who have contributed to its work.

"This milestone is about so much more than celebrating our history. It is about recognizing the generations of people who have stepped up to care for their neighbors and make Southington a stronger community," Southington United Way Executive Director Britt Lynch said.

The centennial celebration will draw inspiration from the organization's founding year, with guests encouraged — though not required — to wear 1920s-inspired clothing. Cocktail or semi-formal attire is also encouraged.

The evening will include a cocktail hour, chef-attended dinner stations, an open bar, dessert, live music, a DJ, and dancing. Raffles, a silent auction, a live auction, and a photo booth are also planned.

A special presentation will look back at United Way of Southington's impact over the past century.

The organization will also present Centennial Awards to several people in recognition of their service to Southington and its residents.

"We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished over the past 100 years and look forward to bringing the community together to celebrate while building momentum for the next century of impact," Lynch said.

Tickets cost $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10.

Businesses and community members can also support the event through sponsorships, advertisements, or tribute messages in a commemorative program, or by donating items for the raffle and silent auction.
