Southington FD Drops 'Interim' From Acting Chief's Title

The newest Southington FD chief has been serving in an 'interim' capacity since taking over last November. He's now the chief.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — After months serving as the "interim" Southington Fire Department chief, veteran fire department official Scott Lee is losing that label for a shorter one.

He is now the chief of the Southington Fire Department.

The SFD this week announced the promotion of Scott Lee to chief of department.

The announcement was made Feb. 11.

The department stated Lee’s career has been dedicated to serving its members and the community, citing "his leadership, integrity, and commitment to the job."

“We’re excited to announce the promotion of Scott Lee to chief of department,” the Southington Fire Department stated. “A constant presence within SFD and across the Connecticut Fire Service, Chief Lee has dedicated his career to serving our members and our community.”

The department said he was the right person to lead the department.

“His leadership, integrity, and commitment to the job make him the right person to lead us into this next chapter,” the department added.

Lee takes over for former SFD Chief Eric Heath, who retired Nov. 2, 2025, with Lee, then the deputy chief, taking over in the interim.
