Southington FD Mourns Passing Of Former Captain
The 84-year-old was with the SFD for more than 30 years and served as a captain upon his retirement.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local fire department is mourning the recent death of a longtime member of its ranks.
The Southington Fire Department said Friday that longtime firefighter and past captain James DeBisschop, 84, died last weekend.
According to his obituary, DeBisschop died last Saturday, Jan. 10, in Newington, where he was staying.

"Captain DeBisschop proudly served the Town of Southington for more than 30 years as a dedicated member of Company 3, including two years in the role of Captain," wrote the SFD.
"In addition to his operational service, Captain DeBisschop played an important role on the building committee for the current Station 3, leaving a lasting impact on the department and community he served."

DeBisschop leaves behind his wife of 62 years and his three sons and their families, according to his obituary.
